No two ways about it: It's been a rough week, and over in our corner of the internet, writing about pretty clothes and such (the things that usually bring us and our readers great joy) seems a bit frivolous and nonconstructive. But leave it to Marc Jacobs, unabashed Hillary Clinton supporter, notorious party animal and general purveyor of good times, to provide a glimmer of light at the end of this dark tunnel — in the form of a wild, '80s-themed party.

To celebrate his resort 2017 collection, which honored the maximalist decade with "I Want My MTV" sweatshirts, neon colors, acid-wash denim, clashing animal prints and, of course, lots of crimped hair, the designer is throwing a bash inside a shuttered Brooklyn nightclub, where guests will "dance the night away" — an activity that will likely be quite therapeutic right about now. Jacobs' began a tradition of strict dress codes with his Studio 54-themed event during New York Fashion Week in September 2015 — and this time, he's throwing it back to the days of Paradise Garage, the famous gay discotheque that closed its doors in 1987. The invitation, which hit our inbox Thursday, reads:

"Glamorous Dress Code Door Policy: Chic 80's with voluminous proportions. Think Gloria von Thurn und Taxis at Le Cirque with Stephanie & Caroline of Monaco. Success, fame and glamour. Punk princess with chiseled cheekbones and exaggerated brows, make Blondie and Brooke Shields proud. Mousse those tresses and tousle them high for a statement hairdo with pumped-up volume. Vertiginous pumps like you're sitting pretty for your Andy portrait. A decorative frenzy in electric paradise; more is more. No posers and definitely no preppies. Be the life of the party, and remember, girls (and boys) just wanna have fun!"

God bless you, Marc. We'll be there with bells on. (Or, at the very least, with sequins and blue eyeshadow on.) For now, browse the Marc Jacobs resort 2017 collection in the gallery below. It's a great pick-me-up.
