THE 9 BEST DARK LIPSTICKS TO GET YOU THROUGH WINTER
If you're concerned a dark lip shade paired with the rest of your typical makeup routine will result in Dr. Frank N. Furter-like overkill, go easy on the eye makeup. Rather than reaching for smoky blacks, browns or charcoals, try rimming your eyes with a faint, glittery gold pigment, as in the look above. (Although, if you're feeling it and really want to go all in with an equally dramatic smoky eye look, more power to you. Rules are made to be broken!)
Additionally, if you generally shy away from going too deep with your lipstick for fear of looking like an actual vampire, there are a few helpful tips you should keep in mind. First, look for a shade that's not too cool-toned — think warmer berries and plums — and then make sure you pair it with blush. Lots and lots of blush. Adding a wash of peachy-pink color to the apples of your cheeks will not only prevent you from looking like a corpse, it also provides a youthful-looking counterbalance to the intensity of a dark lipstick. (A good, universally flattering shade is Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Last Looks Blush in Seashell.)
